As an Englishman, Eadie drew upon the history and topography of the British Isles in several tales, such as “Flames of Destiny” (in which a man goes back in time to the period of the English Civil War), “The Immortal Hand” (which resurrects William Shakespeare), and “The Hound of Duncardin” (set in a remote part of Scotland). Other tales rely on engaging treatments of pulp formulas such as the mad scientist (“The World-Wrecker,” “The Flowing Death”), the ghosts of human beings (“The Phantom Flight”) and animals (“Warning Wings”), and horrors out of Egypt (“The Nameless Mummy”).
